Welcome back to the Beer O’Clock podcast & for once it hasn’t been a long time between drinks! As those of you who follow the podcast would be aware, Dylan & I were in Singapore for Brew Asia at the start of the month. This is a quick wrap up post, so that you’re all able to find the episodes from Singapore that you’re looking for. We’d love to hear what you think of these short sharp interviews & if it’s something you’d like to see more of going forward.
Will Julius of Lion Brewery Co (Singapore)
Will runs Lion Brewery Co in Singapore – not to be confused with our Lion Brewery. It’s a really enjoyable conversation where we discuss everything from brewing in and exporting to multiple countries as well as the possibility of a Durian beer.
Don Viteri of Rooster Beer (Vietnam)
Don Viteri joins us for a follow up to our interview in Bangkok. He’s had a promotion since we last spoke and is now CEO of Rooster Beer in Vietnam. Don joins us to discuss his new role, what Rooster has beer up to since we last spoke & discusses the latest season of The Bear – amongst other things.
Stanley Boots of 7 Bridges Brewing (Vietnam)
Another follow on from Bangkok, Stanley Boots of 7 Bridges joins us to discuss 7 Bridges’ Zero Waste efforts, upcoming rebrand & embracing the chaos of alternative revenue streams.
Brew Asia Day 1 Wrap
Our wrap of Day 1; 3 interviews, Many Beers, Many Chats & Loads on Offer for tomorrow!
Wendy Chng Petit & Bret Kollmann Baker of Les Vergers Boiron
We had a lot more engagement from suppliers this time & we showed our professionalism by arriving over an hour early on Day 2 of the conference to speak to fruit puree supplier Les Vergers Boiron.
George Wade of Zevero
It was great having someone as passionate as George on the pod. We discussed their Carbon Management solutions, how it helps the brewing industry & the planet as well as talking about how employees get to work can impact your carbon footprint. If that sounds dry, don’t worry it isn’t! It’s a really good chat with an engaging guest who is passionate about what he does.
Paul Jones of Cloudwater Brew Co (England)
This was a really thoughtful wide ranging conversation that delved into the depths of the industry. If you’ve only got time for one of these interviews I would make it this one. Paul was one of the key note speakers at BrewAsia & we were privileged to have him join us.
Leon & Liz of Tenggara Brewing (Indonesia)
Shortly before the Asian Beer Championship Results were announced we were joined by Liz & Leon from Tenggara Brewing in Indonesia. They are home brewers, turned contract brewers who after a lengthy 2 year process were finally able to produce their first beers in February 2024. This is a really good chat that covers the difficulties of brewing in Indonesia as well as the close community they’ve found themselves among.
Germaine Clerx of Blefa
As the conference was being packed up around us we were joined by Germaine Clerx, International Sales Manager for Blefa. Germaine had been plying us with Pilsner for 2 days from her stall 5m away from ours and talked her way onto the pod! We talked about how they produce 1.7m kegs a year, which are sold in every country from A-Z. They’re accredited to 4 ISO Standards and have industry leading welding technology.
Brew Asia Day 2 Wrap
A slightly hungover Angus & Dylan wrap up a fabulous Brew Asia.
