Welcome to the new look Beer O’Clock Australia! It’s quite a substantial change from the old look, which if I’m being honest had started to look pretty dated. Most of the content from the old site has made its way across, although some of it will be a little harder to find whilst I finish making the transition.

Beer O’Clock Australia was originally started to catalogue what I, optimistically, hoped would be a 4 month journey where I would drink a beer from every European country. 9 years later I’m still yet to complete it’s original purpose… (Speaking of, if anyone has any Kazakh contacts…)

I started it as a way to document my journey through beer, before Untappd (love it or hate it) became the industry behemoth that it is. I started it as a way to try and educate people about the wonderful world of beer that has expanded so rapidly since that time. In the current beer world, that style of writing is far less important than it once was.

As a consequence we’ve been looking at where Beer O’Clock Australia fits in the Australian craft beer scene. We’ve grown from a couple of mates & their dogs visiting the sit to the thousands of you that visit every week. We’ve expanded into audio, with out podcast that is really well supported. I knew the site needed to change but I didn’t want to go to far away from its core; providing you with reliable beer content & opinions.

The website you’ve come to enjoy enough to keep coming back served us well for over 9 years! One of the few positives of COVID-19 has been my ability to update the site – even then it took more than a month & isn’t anywhere near finished! The new website is much more versatile than the old one & will allow us to provide you with more dynamic content! It’ll allow us to do a few more different things that will hopefully keep you all coming back for more once the seemingly constant barrage of The Year of Local wraps up, hopefully towards the end of the year.

As you’re reading this you would have noticed the change of logo & colour scheme. It’s pretty radically different. I really hope the usability of the website, particularly The Year of Local segment, is greatly improved. Whilst navigating the posts you should notice lack of the old “stats” topper. It’s been replaced by the icons that you see below: in an attempt to make it easier to find the information you’re looking for.

I really hope you find the new site easier to navigate & find the information you want. There will be new, hopefully exciting segments on the horizion once we get the bulk of the YOTL posts completed. As always feedback is more than welcome & at this stage of the website development is seriously encouraged. Apart from an outlet for my thoughts on the subject the website is for you, so I’d love to hear from you via the contacts page – where you can now easily find the ways to contact me. Thanks again for all your support & I hope to be able to have a beer with you all soon!

Remember it’s always Beer O’Clock somewhere in the world!
